Reading Intervention

Executive Functioning Support

Executive Functioning Support

I am trained in the Orton Gillingham method and provide structured instruction tailored to your child. Through close progress monitoring and data collection, I explicitly and directly teach the skills needed for reading. I provide supportive and fun environment where students are comfortable making mistakes and celebrate their growth.

Executive Functioning Support

Is your student scattered, but smart? Having the skills to organize and plan, shift attention, be flexible with thinking and self-regulate can all have an impact on how a person copes with daily tasks. I can provide interventions to support these challenges. High school students often find benefit from short and frequent 1:1 check-ins to strategize their workload.

IEP Advocacy

Executive Functioning Support

IEP Advocacy

The IEP process can be overwhelming and confusing to navigate. I can assist in obtaining an initial evaluation. I will advise you on appropriate goals and services your child's school should be giving. I can also attend IEP meetings to serve as your child's advocate.

Orton-Gillingham is a highly structured approach that breaks reading and spelling down into smaller skills involving letters and sounds, and then building on these skills over time. -Institute for Multi-sensory Education

Frequently Asked Questions

Please email jennifer@beachcitiesliteracy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The amount of intervention needed for each child varies. However, this is a general breakdown:

Students that are significantly impacted by reading difficulties should have a minimum of 2-3 reading intervention sessions per week.

Students that have made gains and need to maintain their growth should have 1-2 reading intervention sessions per week.

Students needing executive functioning support should have 1-2 sessions per week.

High school students struggling with executive functioning may need full session length or multiple 15 minute check-ins per week.

People do not outgrow dyslexia, although the symptoms do tend to vary by age. With appropriate instruction and support, people with dyslexia can succeed in school and the workplace.

I have been on both sides of the IEP process. I have written them and I have requested them. I will guide you through the process to receive the assessment your child is entitled to from your school district.

I will guide you each step of the way. I will advise you on appropriate goals and services your child's school should be giving. I can also attend IEP meetings to serve as your child's advocate.
